The latest in my craftiness

Crocheted Mobile | Jessica Blaine Smith

I have been slacking a little on my personal blog and realised that I haven’t posted anything crafty here since August. It’s not that I haven’t been geeking out with my crochet needle, it’s that I have been busy with other things like taking photos and seeing new places (oh, and the holidays took a lot out of me). So here is a little jumble of some things.

First off, are some images of a cute mobile that I made for our friends who had a baby girl in November. I thought that it was super cute when I found it on Pinterest and surprisingly, it was pretty easy to make. I love projects that are made with a series of small parts because they seem to be easier to make.Crocheted Mobile | Jessica Blaine Smith

In November I hosted a lady crochet night at my place. Naturally any gathering at our house needs to include a cocktail or two so Josh set me up before heading out to work that day. He put out the bottles and left instructions for a classic martini and a Rob Roy. I was kind of nervous making the drinks since it’s so out of my element but I think that I did alright.

Martini: 2 ounce of Gin (I used Dillon’s!), 0.5 ounce dry vermouth, 3 dashes of orange bitters
Rob Roy:  1.5 ounce Scotch, 0.75 ounce sweet vermouth, 3 dashes of Angostura bitters

When I was there, Katie and I took a couple of workshops including learning to weave a spiral. I made the above spiral out of natural fibres and raffia that day. Recently, I finally completed it by adding some Emu feathers and finally hanging it on our home. Every time I look at it, I remember being at Woodford.Crocheted Mobile | Jessica Blaine Smith

  1. Loved the “inside” look of Havana.
