Stop Putting Off Doing Things

Really, the title of this post says it all: stop putting off doing things.

If there is something that you have been meaning to do, get on with it and do it.

If there is something that you have dreamed of doing, well hurry up and make it happen.

The sun waits for no one.

Back in the winter my friend Jill and I were talking about doing a family portrait session. Jill is a photographer like me plus she is an incredible mother. Being a photographer naturally means that it’s rare to get a portrait made with your own family (like how an interior designer’s place may look less than stellar, etc.). I was determined to make the session happened. We rescheduled once and in the days leading up to the session, the kids were sick with colds. Nevertheless, we made it happen. We decided that there would be no perfect moment to do it so that day would be the day. Jill and her family came into the studio and together we made some beautiful portraits. Fast-forward three months and Jill’s sweet Jude didn’t wake up from his afternoon nap. Just like that, the world had lost a beautiful member and we are all heartbroken.

Life is precious. Every day is precious. We never know what will come tomorrow or in the next year or decade. Because of this, we need to make things happen now. We need to start doing what we say we are going to do. We need to start living in the present and enjoy every second of every waking day.

Get up, get moving, follow your dreams, make them happen. Life is for living.

P.S. Ironically, this blog post was living in my head for about a week before I finally typed it out.

P.P.S. Having this in mind, my husband Josh and I FINALLY launched a new project called Bartender Atlas. This is something that we have been sitting on since October 2014 and now it’s live and out there in the world. Man, it feels good.
