If you know me or if you have been following along here, you know that a big part of my heart is in Mexico. One of my sisters lived there for eleven years. Two of my nieces and my nephew were born there. My brother-in-law’s family is still there. I have traveled the country literally coast to coast. In fact, I have seen more of it than I have seen of my own country, Canada. I love that place. I love the people. I love the food. I love the energy. Last year we went to San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas to celebrate our anniversary. I had heard many things about this magic town but had no idea that I would fall in love with the place as quickly as I did. While we were there, I photographed A LOT. My ever-so-patient husband graciously allowed me to stop on nearly every block so I could document all that I was seeing. He just asked that I do something, something real with these photos. I was fascinated by the houses of San Cris. Of the painted walls and of the mystery that lay behind them. I came home with thousands of images and I have been working on them and dreaming up this project Las Casas de San Cristóbal de las Casas ever since.
In the past couple of weeks, Mexico has experienced some devastating earthquakes and their aftermath. It breaks my heart to see the damage that has taken place there. Besides Mexico City, many other places in Oaxaca and Chiapas were also hit, including my beloved San Cris. I want to do my part in helping this great country so I have decided that I can help by offering up my photography, this project Las Casas de San Cristóbal de las Casas. All proceeds from the print sales will go to two charities: Topos Mexico and Mexico Earthquake Relief Fund. So by purchasing a print, you will not only get a piece of art for your home, you are going to help this place that is so important to me and to so many others.
Head on over to the SHOP to check out what images are on offer. I thank you for your generosity.
