In 2016 I visited the town of San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, Mexico and instantly fell in love. This town holds magic. An energy that cannot be described but as soon as you enter the town, you understand what I speak about. Each day I would wander the streets and photograph the houses there while my patient husband waited for me. He gave me this time as long as I actually “did something” with the resulting images and now I have found this something.
San Cristóbal de las Casas is a town of walls in a way that I have never seen before. Walls of colour and light. Walls with layers upon layers of paint giving a hint of its past. Walls with street art. Walls that have stories to tell if only they had the words. On September 8th, 2017 Mexico experienced a devastating earthquake. San Cristóbal de las Casas was one town that was victim to it. Proceeds from purchasing this 8×10 photographic print will go to two charities – Topos and Mexico Earthquake Relief Fund – that are helping with the aftermath of this disaster. Basic shipping is included in the cost of the print. If you would prefer to pick it up from my home in Toronto, that money saving will go directly to the charities. I thank you for your generosity.
